Date: 26 Shahrivar 1358 [17 September 1979]
To Ayatollah Mahdavi Kani and the esteemed head of the Central Committee of Islamic Revolution,
We respectfully convey to you that on 17, 18 and 19 Shahrivar [8, 9 and 10 September] of this year, a number of rebellious, corrupt individuals in Shiraz raided the house of the Bab, located in Shamshirgarha Alley, with premeditation, destroyed it and wounded the hearts of the Baha’i community of Iran and elsewhere in more than 96,000 localities in the world.
You are aware that the properties belonging to this company have been seized and are under protection based on the decision of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, dated 18 Khordad 1358 [8 June 1979] and the Mostazafan Foundation, which has been assigned this mission, has put Mr. Tavizadeh in Shiraz in charge of protection and security. Mr. Tavizadeh, by going to the location and observing the subject house and the houses adjacent to it, which were in the possession of the local committee, have even asked for the clothing of the Bab.
Unfortunately, despite the position he has had, not only has he not carried out the mission of protection, but he also prevented the Mostazafan Foundation from intervening in this matter when the representative of the company went to the subject Foundation. As a result, a house which is sacred for the Baha’is of the world has been demolished and destroyed, and some problems have been created for the residents of neighbouring houses, which include about two hundred indigent Baha’is in Shiraz.
Since the case of the demolition of the mentioned house been transferred from the Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Shiraz to the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Shiraz, we request that you order that a decision be made first on the subject case, so that the representatives of the company [may] undertake the repair and protection of the building, and then that the necessary action is taken to prosecute the perpetrators and complete the case.
