26 Bahman 1387 [14 February 2009]

To the Esteemed President of Sahand University [of Technology],

I respectfully convey the following.

My name is Farzad Aḥmadi. I participated in the national university entrance examination in 1387 [2008/2009] and, according to the published results, I was accepted to study electrical engineering (with an application in biomedical engineering) at Sahand University, following which I submitted all the relevant documents to the university on 31 Shahrivar 1387 [21 September 2008] and completed my enrolment.

When I arrived at the university on 19 Bahman 1387 [7 February 2009], after the timetable for the classes was announced, I realized that all the students had been given a temporary [entrance] card after their enrolment, except me; so I went to the Office of Academic Services in order to ask the reason. Unfortunately, I was informed that I was not allowed to continue my studies and was not given any response in writing. My application, through all the stages of the enrolment process, had been screened and proved to be complete. [Normally,] should there be any problems with the application form at any point, the applicant should be informed so that he can submit the correct information in order for the application form to be completed. Additionally, in case of any legal issues, the applicant should be informed of the relevant reasons for disqualification. Now the question remains, after the lapse of five months since my enrolment in the university, what was the factor that led to my being deprived of continuing my higher education?

In light of the above information, and in view of the fact that the actions taken by Sahand University and the Sanjesh [Educational Assessment and Evaluation Organization] are illegal, and a clear violation of my human and citizenship rights; and are against Articles 3, 4, 9, 14, 19, 20 and 23 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic; Articles 2, 7, 26 and 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Charter; Article 13 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; and Article 26 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, I humbly request that honourable authority and all the relevant individuals in charge to thoroughly review all my documents, and take all the necessary steps to eliminate every existing obstacle that has led to my being deprived of continuing my university education.
