Tehran – Honourable Mr. Bazargan, Prime Minister of the Provisional Islamic Government of Ira

Copy: Mr. Sadr Haj Seyyed Javadi, esteemed Minister of Interior

Copy: Mr. Kani, Head of the Islamic Revolutionary Committees of Imam Khomeini

Respectfully, it is hereby conveyed that on Monday, 21 Esfand [12 March] at 12:00 noon, seven armed individuals, who presented themselves as revolutionary guards and representatives of the Committee, entered the Haziratu’l-Quds [Baha’i Centre] of Tabriz by force, threatened the custodian and his family; broke most interior doors, windows, and cabinets, as well as the door of the safe; and took with them all the books and journals from the library as well as documents and records of the Baha’i community. Please have the matter investigated and instruct that the mentioned files, books and records be returned, in light of the statement of His Excellency the Grand Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and head of the Provisional Islamic Government, who issued a decree prohibiting unlawful entrance to properties, causing terror and fear and harassment. With utmost sincerity, it is hoped that measures will be taken for the Bahá’í community of Tabriz, which has no other aim but to witness the progress and exaltation of the sacred country of Iran, and to benefit from the general favour of the Imam and your government.
