“Arrest of Two Baha’is After Writing Slogans in Yazd”
…According to HRANA, before noon on Sunday, 8 Tir [29 June], two Baha’i citizens living in Yazd, Tannaz Mohammadi and Iraj Lohrasb, were arrested separately at their homes by Ministry of Intelligence agents and taken to an unknown location.
The two Baha’is have not yet contacted their relatives, and the charges, the reason for their detention, and their whereabouts are unknown.
The arrest of the two Baha’is comes as leaflets against Baha’i citizens have recently been distributed in Yazd, and threatening slogans against Baha’is have been written over the entrances of homes and on the walls.
This action took place on 22 Khordad [12 June], which was the birthday of the Twelfth Imam of the Shiites.
Leaflets had been posted on home entrances, on some cars belonging to the Baha’is, on the walls of some places, and in alleys.
So far, it is not clear which group or individuals have been responsible for preparing and distributing such statements in the city, but Simin Fahandej, a spokeswoman for the Baha’i International Community, said in an interview that the purpose of distributing the leaflets was to incite the people to attack the Baha’is and to intimidate them, and that the role of the Iranian government in this and spreading hatred against Baha’is is very strong.
She said, “The intimidators are not anonymous and are related to the highest levels of government in Iran.”
