The Water That Is Currently Flowing

From the life of this government had not passed more than one or two months, that one day, I went to the municipality [offices] and observed that conditions had totally changed. There was no news of Ebtehaj, nor a sign of Homayoun and Aghili…

… It became evident that the famous millionaire Manavi and the owner of the Dawoudieh estates, situated in the southwest part of Gholhak, with the help of his ever-present associates in various ministries and government departments such as the municipality, considered the digging of a deep borehole and directing its water flow to Gholhak to be against his own interests. He complained to the Justice Department against the municipality and me, through his wife (Mrs. Tuba Moradian), and requested the closure of the borehole.

…An event occurred which drove Manavi out of Iran for a while; that was the onslaught of the preacher Falsafi against the Baha’i sect. Since Manavi was considered one of the wealthy leaders of this group, he [chose to take] flight to settle down outside of the country…
