Kamran Lotfi

Executed by firing squad in Tehran on 04 April 1984

 

Kamran Lotfi was born into a Baha’i family.  After completing his high school education he moved to Tabriz and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tabriz University.  He completed his military service from 1976 to1978 and then married.  He was a member of the Youth Committee of Tabriz and Tehran, as well as an assistant[1] to the Auxiliary Board[2].

He was arrested on 6 May 1983 and imprisoned in Gohardasht and Evin prison.  He was executed by firing squad on 04 April 1984, together with Yadollah Saberian and Rahim Rahimian.  Their bodies were not returned to their families; they were possibly buried by the authorities.

[2] Auxiliary Board Members: group of individuals appointed by the Continental Board of Counselors for a five year term.  Their responsibility is to encourage individuals and strengthen Baha’i communities in their area of service - usually smaller regions within a country.  Auxiliary Board Members have a consultative role in relation to the Local Spiritual Assemblies.
