Kamaloddin Bakhtavar

Born 2 August 1927, Ardabil

Executed by firing squad in Kashmar, Khorasan on 26 July 1981

 

Kamaloddin Bakhtavar was born into a Baha’i family.  When he was 10 years old his family moved to Tehran and after completing his schooling, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture. Concurrently he completed studying Law at Tehran University and Islamic Studies at Karachi University.  He was the author of several books and articles about the Baha’i Faith.

His house was raided by Pasdars and while on a trip to Mashhad on 10 July 1981 he was arrested.  He was transferred to Kashmar prison. On 26 July 1981, less than a month after his arrest, he was executed by firing squad together with Nematollah Katebpour-Shahidi. Their families buried their bodies at the Baha’i cemetery in Nishapur, Khorasan.
