Arrest of Lieutenant General Rastegar, Adjutant of Overthrown Shah

Lieutenant General Hosein Rastegar, who was one of the active elements of the previous regime, was arrested on 5 Shahrivar 1359 [27 August 1980] by the Guards of the Central [Tehran] Revolutionary Committee.

The afore mentioned had been holding various positions such as the Shah’s Adjutant, Artillery Commander, Head of Division Two of the Army’s Ground Forces, and Commander of the Headquarters of the Independent Army of Khuzestan.

It must be mentioned that he is a Baha’i, affiliated with the Pan-Iranian Party and a close friend of General Moghaddam and Dr. Nahavandi, [each of whom have been executed].
