One of the most important points in the deviant case of the Hojjatieh Society is the issue of negligence, or (rather) neglect of what is considered the essential struggle, and paying attention to non-essential and secondary efforts and struggles. The leaders of the Hojjatieh Society could not turn a blind eye to this religious fact; on the other hand, they did not believe in the kind of struggle that the Imam and his true followers called for.
The only alternative for them was to direct the enthusiasm and motivation of their supporters in a direction that would satisfy their sense of struggle and would not harm the world and the interests of the Hojjatieh Society. Therefore, they engaged their fans and the young forces in neutral struggles, fruitless or futile fights that did not cause serious harm to the king and his agents and did not cause them any serious trouble.
The struggle with the Baha’is before the revolution, as well as the struggle against some of the very minor and peripheral manifestations of Western civilization that the shah promoted, all of them were the kind of struggles that kept everyone away from paying attention to the main Taghut and the main disease of the Iranian society.
The shah was not at all dissatisfied with the fact that the Hojjatieh Society focused its struggles on such matters as the Baha’is, Pepsi-Cola, and other marginal matters such as these, but considered these activities to be in line with strengthening the foundation of the imperial regime.
