Honourable Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran

Copy of the telegram with collecting copy, Tehran [redacted]

Honourable Chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission

Respectfully, I, Hosein Azami, convey the following.

I am the owner and occupier of a house in Tehran [redacted], and my ownership has been approved according to verdict number 114918, dated 25 Azar 1377 [16 December 1998], issued by Branch 16 of the Central Islamic Revolutionary Court; however, Hojatoleslam Haj Agha Nayyeri, the presiding judge of the Order of Imam Khomeini and Article 49 of the Constitution, unjustly announced my ownership as void. Subsequently, on 19 Mehr 1378 [11 October 1999], some officials of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, climbed up the wall, entered my home, beat me severely, and by intimidation and terrorism, forced my family to flee the house in panic. They took all my household items in a few trucks to an unknown place and left me and my family members, without the slightest living essentials, even clothes, displaced and forced to wander.

Considering that my ownership documents are proven, and I have been living in my purchased house for more than 24 years, I have to state that the order and opinion of Mr. Nayyeri and the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order [EIKO] are contrary to religious law, in violation of the law and regulations, denying me my property rights, and depriving me of, the right to housing and other human rights. In this regard, I call on the esteemed official to issue an urgent order for prompt investigation and to return the house and the household items that were forcibly taken from me.

With respect and prayers

Hosein Azami
