Remember the last wills of the Imam!
... In the 22 Khordad [12 June] elections this year, when the epic presence of the zealous people of Iran marked another golden leaf in the record of democracy in our system, some inappropriate comments were made regarding the disqualification of some individuals and the supervision of the Guardian Council, which was clearly the most commented on by Mr. Karroubi. Before the start of the candidates’ election campaigns, perhaps no one thought that the main election campaign slogans of [Mr. Karroubi], the head of the two legislatures of this system, [who claimed] to accompany the late Imam with his advisers and companions, were to question the [Islamic] Republic, and to defend Baha’ism and other similar misguided sects.
Regarding the heretical sect, the imam said, “Baha’ism is not a religion; it is a party, a party that was supported by Britain in the past and is now supported by the United States. They are also spies.”
(1) In one case, a group of revolutionary fighters, in order to fight against Baha’ism, wrote a letter to the imam asking him to allow the use of funds to fight against Baha’ism. In a letter dated 15 Mehr 1349 [7 October 1970], he said, “Believers should give them from the allowable funds such as zakat and the Sharia funds”.
(2) It seems that if the reasons for disqualification of various candidates who have not been approved by the Guardian Council are examined, a person or persons could be found whom the Guardian Council has not endorsed merely because of their affiliation with or support for Baha’ism; therefore, according to Mr. Karroubi’s stances, these people must be dissatisfied with the action of the Guardian Council and consider themselves entitled to complain about it because of their support for a candidate...
