Hashem Farnoush

Born: 1938, Karaj

Executed by firing squad in Tehran on 23 June 1981

 

Hashem Farnoush was born in Karaj.  After completing high school he moved to Tehran where he obtained a degree in Persian Literature from Tehran University.  He worked in Rasht as a teacher.  After a short time, he returned to Karaj and started his own business.  In 1979 he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly[1] of the Baha’is of Karaj. 

He was arrested in late 1980 and imprisoned at Evin prison for nine months.  He was executed by firing squad on 23 June 1981, together with Bozorg Alavian and Farhang Mavaddat.  They were buried in accordance to the Baha’i law at the Baha’i cemetery of Tehran. Their families along with a large number of friends attended their funeral.
