Views of the Honorable Religious Authorities About the Perverse Baha’i Sect

Imam Khomeini,

Although the repentance of an innate apostate (Baha’i) will be accepted, the laws relevant to his apostasy (such as nullification of marriage, transfer of belongings to the heirs, and the punishment for apostasy) will not be nullified by repentance.

Ayatollah Noori Hamedani,

Baha’ism is condemned as being unclean. Association with them or inviting them to the mosque is not permissible.

In the Name of God

To His Reverence the Grand Ayatollah Bahjat (may His blessings continue)

As in the City of Marvdasht (Fars Province), a few Baha’is have started businesses, and people associate and have dealings with them every day, we ask Your Reverence to answer the following questions:

  1. Are the Baha’is Muslims, or infidels and unclean?
  2. What has been decreed with regard to greeting them and shaking their hands?
  3. What has been decreed with regard to buying something from their store or selling something to them?
  4. Can we sit at the dinner table with people of this perverse Baha’i sect and eat their food?

In the Name of God

They are unclean; do not associate with them. God is the All-Knowing.

All members of the perverse Baha’i sect are condemned for being infidels and unclean. Any food or wet item touched by them should be avoided. It is incumbent upon the believers to oppose the machinations and immorality of this perverse sect.

[Answer to] 1-4: Members of the perverse Baha’i sect are not among Muslims and any form of association with them is forbidden, unless there is hope of guiding them.

  1. Baha’is are not Muslims; they are infidels and unclean.
  2. Greeting them is not permitted and when you shake hands with them you need to be aware of the laws on cleanliness.
  3. Doing business with them, by itself, is not forbidden unless it leads to the propagation of their baseless religion or the influencing of Muslims.
  4. Their food is unclean and eating it is forbidden.
