With Ayatollah Borujerdi
The relationship between Ayatollah Borujerdi and the influential authorities in Tehran has not yet normalised, and the mediation of some eminent clergy has not been effective in clearing the estrangement, either. It has been said that last Saturday, the first deputy went to Qom to visit Ayatollah Borujerdi in an effort to remedy this bitterness, but the ayatollah rejected his audience. As a result, unable to fulfil his purpose, Mr. Rafi returned to Tehran.
An unconfirmed report indicates that Ayatollah Borujerdi’s trip to the Holy City of Najaf has been arranged and is likely to be realized after the summer holidays in Shahrivar, concurrent with the opening of Parliament.
