The representative of the black Shi’as of Zanzibar arrived in Qom and met with Ayatollah Borujerdi, offering him a leather bag full of gold coins, and reported that a number of Iranian missionaries [led] by Nakhjavani have arrived in Zanzibar.
…One of the missionaries of Ayatollah Borujerdi abroad is Sheikh Mohammad-Reza, the leader of the Zanzibar Shi’as, who has arrived in Qum. On behalf of the black Shi’as of that country, he presented to Ayatollah Borujerdi a large sum of money as the Imam’s share, all in gold coins in a leather bag to be spent on the affairs of the Muslims…
…Ayatollah Borujerdi asked about the situation of Zanzibar in Africa, and Sheikh Mohammad-Reza, in response, stated that a group of the Baha’is of Iran under the leadership of Aliollah [Aliakbar] Nakhjavani, has arrived in Zanzibar and is busy teaching Baha’ism to the Muslims of that country.
