Number of Baha’i Employees in Offices and Forbiddance of Wife and Child to Them

Karzar - It has become evident that the number of Baha’i government employees is more than 2,000 and about two thousand more are employed by the oil company and other organizations; altogether, 4,000 Baha’is are employed by the offices and ministries.

According to a government order and Ayatollah Borujerdi’s recommendation, it has been agreed that they would be asked about their religion. If they say that they are Baha’is, they will be dismissed; otherwise, they will be reinstated.

At present, the Baha’is have been caught in the middle. If they admit to being a Baha’i, they will be dismissed and lose their livelihood, and if they do not admit it, they will be reproached by their Assembly. According to the Baha’i belief, their wives and children will be prohibited to them.
