Ministry of the Interior,

Respectfully, it is submitted:  According to the Gendarmerie Regiment of Kerman, on the 8th of Mehr 1331 [30 September 1952], the Mourning Day of Ashura[1] , about four thousand people gathered in the village of Hasanabad where the Baha’is reside and [the Centre for?] their propagation activities are located.  [The crowd] intended to plunder the properties of the Baha’is and kill them.  Having foreseen this, the necessary precautions were taken by sending troops to prevent [the mob’s] actions. The mob was able only to destroy the Haziratu’l-Quds[2] and set on fire some of its furniture. When the perpetrators were being prosecuted in the Rafsanjan Court, again a group of them, having been incited by Mr. Ansari, the preacher, attacked the Court and freed the culprits and later on they headed to the Baha’i Cemetery in Sadeqabad, in the outskirts of the town, and dug out the corpses and set fire to them.  From the [Gendarmerie] Regiment a group [of gendarmes] was dispatched to Rafsanjan under the supervision of an Officer, and ordered to help the Police Force in to terminate the quarrel and have the matter investigated.
