In the Name of God

Distinguished Head of Qaemshahr Police Force, Colonel Mehri

With greetings and imploring daily success in your services, I would respectfully inform you that on 11 Aban 1395 [1 November 2016], about thirty commercial units owned by the Iranian citizens residing in Qaemshahr were sealed by the esteemed Public Places Supervision Office.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution, we are considered Iranians, and based on Paragraph B of Article 28 of the Law of the Trade Union, each business owner can close his business [annually] up to fifteen days without informing the Trade Union. However, despite these laws, our businesses have been sealed, several times, illegally.

It must be mentioned that our shops had been sealed previously, just for one day’s holiday closure. After following up with legal authorities and giving a letter of undertaking stating that:

We will obey all the Trade Union regulations of the Islamic Republic

We will not propagate religions in our place [of business]

[We would] inform the Public Places Supervision Office, one week before the closure,

despite obeying all these requirements, our shops were sealed. On multiple occasions, the Public Places Supervision Office completely sealed our shops illegally.

Since we have not committed any business crime, the Public Places Supervision Office sealed our shops, contrary to the Law of the Trade Union, Article 14 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the holy verse, Allah does not forbid you from dealing kindly and fairly with those who have neither fought nor driven you out of your homes. Surely Allah loves those who are fair.”[1] while the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Muslims have a duty to treat non-Muslims with good morals, Islamic justice and to respect their human rights, including the human rights of individuals to do business, and to treat everyone equally in accordance with national law.

Therefore, we are asking you to pay the necessary attention to resolve our problem and give the order to unseal our business premises; these shops are the only means of livelihood for our families. God willing, we will strive with more effort towards building Iran and preserve the unity and dignity of our beloved country. We are thankful in advance for your kind attention.
