Four Employees of Mehrabad Airport Were Sentenced to Death
The spokesman for the judiciary announced that several people had been sentenced to death for economic corruption, and also informed the media of the conviction of Baha’is in Shiraz, the case of Shahram Jazayeri, and the imprisonment of a number of students.
In an interview with reporters in Tehran on Tuesday, 9 Bahman [29 January], Alireza Jamshidi, a spokesman for the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, referring to a case related to economic corruption, said that four defendants had been found guilty in this case, and had been sentenced to death; one of the sentences has been executed...
The Case of Baha’is, Shahram Jazayeri and Students:
A spokesman for the judiciary also spoke on Tuesday about the arrest and sentencing of a number of Baha’is in Shiraz. He said the number of detainees was 54, who “had propagandized against the regime.”
According to Mr. Jamshidi, out of this number, the first to third degree defendants have been sentenced to four years in prison; they are serving their sentences. The defendants of the fourth degree onward were sentenced to one year of imprisonment, suspended…
A spokesman for the judiciary also announced the release of eight students who had previously been detained, saying that their detention had been [suspended] and that they would be released on bail.
