Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
His Excellency, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution
We were utterly regretful, dismayed, saddened, and indignant to have recently learnt that some people who have no fear of God have, in an utmost disrespectful and inhumane manner, removed corpses from the beautiful cemetery of the Bahà’ís and are disposing of them in a location unknown [to the Bahà’ís].
We intensely deplore this humiliating and dastardly treatment heaped upon our people and co-religionists, denying and depriving them of their eternal resting-place. We urge your respected excellency to intervene and issue an immediate and emphatic order to stop this inhuman transgression which is contrary to the divine laws of the holy religion of Islam; and effect an immediate halt to the construction of the Khavaran Cultural Centre on the confiscated land of the Bahà’í cemetery; and allow the actual owners of this cemetery to take charge; and consider this land to be one of the beautiful gardens of south of Tehran.
We appreciate your attention to this spiritual and humanitarian matter. We implore the Threshold of the Almighty that you may be granted a long and prosperous life to educate the heedless souls about the divine teachings.
With most respectful greetings,
The Bahà’í community of the Bahà’ís of Azerbaijan
