Copy to Mr. Ahmad Sadr Haj Seyyed Javadi, esteemed Minister of Justice

Respectfully, along with presenting our deepest condolences on the regrettable passing of his highness Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Taleghani to you and to the Cabinet, pursuant to yesterday’s telegram, we inform you of the following.  Once again, yesterday, as the day before yesterday, a number of individuals attacked the House of the Bab in Shiraz and destroyed the remaining parts of it, obliterating a place that is considered a holy place and a point of adoration for His followers from more than 96,000 [sic] localities around the world.  Despite the urgent requests of these oppressed ones, [no one] in any way prevented the perpetrators.

Given that, on the one hand, the occurrence of such events under the current circumstances is harmful to the best interests of the nation, and will not have a favourable reflection around the world, and on the other hand, this community has no recourse except reliance on the one God and appeals to the relevant authorities, we once again stand to beseech you to issue a strict order to the police forces to prevent any destructive actions on the aforementioned house, return the property, which had been confiscated in order to be protected, and prosecute the instigators and perpetrators.

With expressions of respect

From the Baha’i Community of Iran

Dr. Hosein Naji
