Islamic Revolution Committee of the Village of Hashtgerd

We, the undersigned, have the honour of representing the Baha’i community of Hashtgerd to express the following. Despite the fact the Baha’i community of Iran refrains from any involvement in political affairs and is not connected to any foreign country or government, and that during the last 135 years of its existence it has continuously served the beloved country of Iran, consistently obeyed the laws of the country and upheld the truth of the sacred religion of Islam and affirmed the Prophethood of the Seal of the Prophets and the righteousness of the pure Imams (PBUT), it has, regrettably, been subjected to a variety of slanderous accusations, discrimination and persecution. Now we see that some of the national media and newspapers are promoting slanderous allegations against us of disloyalty to the country and the government ultimately instigating the ignorant [to raise against us]. With trust in the Islamic government and the dawn of the regime of Islamic justice, we ask that you adopt policies to end such attacks and violations, so that individual Baha’is will be able to continue their loving service to humanity with peace of mind. Truly, aside from God, the peerless, this community has no other support but the just authorities of the country. It is our hope that, with the consideration of the Grand Ayatollah Imam Khomeini, the esteemed leader of the people, and that of the government of the Islamic Revolution, we will be able to enjoy the rights and liberties equal to other sectors of the society.

On behalf of the Baha’i community of Hashtgerd
