My dear son Payam,

I received your letter dated 13 Ordibehesht 1360 [3 May 1981] last week. It made me very happy and reassured that by the grace of God you and other family members are fine, and that you are successful in your studies and work. It makes me very grateful that there is love and goodwill among you, and that you also write to Mrs. [illegible]. Say hello to Mahin and Mojdeh for me and thank them for their trouble. Kiss Marjan and Nikdokht for me and personally watch over Marjan’s progress in her studies and her homework. Give my regards to all relatives and friends, especially to your [paternal] uncles, their wives and children, as well as to your [maternal] aunt, uncle and their children and families.

My dear Mojdeh, may my life be a sacrifice for you; I hope you are well. I am sure you are doing your utmost to carry out your work and your studies. Do not be too particular about your studies and choice of field. As long as you can continue with ease and without too much pressure it is sufficient. Kiss the kids for me.

Love, your father
