Ali-Akbar Khorsandi’s parents moved to several towns during his childhood, and then in 1960, to propagate the Baha’i faith, he moved to Kalaleh, Gorgan where he married and raised a family. He was elected on the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Kalaleh for several years. He later moved to Gonbad-e Kavus for the education of his children.
Ali-Akbar Khorsandi was arrested on 4 April 1979 and taken to Tehran. He was first imprisoned in Saltanatabad prison for a few days and then transferred to Qasr prison. He was not permitted any visitors and was executed by hanging on 12 May 1979. His body was laid to rest in the Baha’i cemetery of Tehran, in accordance with Baha’i law.
