In the Name of God
Mr. Gholamreza Aghazadeh,
The honourable Minister of the Oil Industry of the Islamic Republic of Iran, may confirmations be upon you:
Peace be upon you; I would cordially convey that my name is Abbas Ali Zareian Jahromi, son of Mohammad, with birth certificate number [redacted], issued in [redacted], born in [redacted]. I am with staff row number [redacted] of the Oil Industry of the Islamic Republic of Iran with fingerprinting number [redacted] and social insurance number [redacted], issued in Abadan. [My] date of employment at the Oil Industry is 14 Aban 1329 [5 November 1950], retired on 15 Esfand 1359 [6 March 1981] at the pipelines and telecommunications region of the Oil Industry in Shiraz, and I have had the privilege of serving with honesty for thirty years, four months and two days.
Although the respected social insurance office communicated verbally [that my] wages and allowances [were] over 11,700 tomans, they expressed that, based on the decision of the parliament, my monthly wage and allowances would be a maximum of 8,630 tomans, which was paid by the Workers Welfare Bank, Nader Street Branch, Shiraz, until 31 Ordibehesht 1361[21 May 1982]. However, since Khordad 1361[May/June 1982], we have been deprived of my salary and health benefits for me and my family.
They indicated that the reason for cutting off the salary was my honesty and truthfulness in stating my religious and moral beliefs. I now refer your honour’s attention to the letter from the Commission for the Purging and Purification [of Governmental Organizations and Agencies] number 3 of Shiraz Oil Industry, decision number 3-B3/255- dated 25 Mordad 1361 [16 August 1982], and letter number 32657 - dated 12 Mehr 1366 [4 October 1987] of the Fars Province Social Security, [in which] they stated the reason for cutting off my pension from 1 Khordad 1361 [22 May 1982] as being [my] belief in the sacred Baha’i Faith. The Baha’i Faith is a universal and international faith. Just like the official religions of Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Islam in Iran, they worship the one and only God, and recognize the divine Messengers, such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, as the Leaders and Teachers of humanity, and have been obedient to their ordinances and to their respective governments.
With regards to the above statement, and considering the photocopies of the letters mentioned above, and my advanced age - I am now 73 years old - and referring to Articles 14,19, 20, 22, 23, and particularly Article 29 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, approved and confirmed by the noble representatives of the Assembly of Experts, which state clearly and explicitly that all Iranians have equal rights before the law and all peoples of the country are protected under law; the inquisition of religious belief is banned and the violation of the rights of people is prohibited; and that the rights of the individuals must remain inviolable [including the enjoyment of] social security for retirement; old age, disability, unemployment, and benefitting from the health and welfare services insurance; according to the Constitution, [these rights] are universal rights. I am also a member of the public and of the people of this country, whose universal rights have been undeservedly violated and discriminated against. They have disregarded the Constitution and have deviated from it. I urge you to strictly instruct them to pay my rightful and overdue salaries and [give me the] rights that have been delayed. May God increase your confirmations and success?
Abbas Ali Zareian Jahromi
